What are the most common communication breakdowns in escalation resolution?

Lack of clarity in a task, assignment or project can lead to a lot of wasted time frustration and insufficient results. IMO clarity in what you’re asking someone to do as well as the employee’s ability to comfortably communicate their non comprehension of the assignment given are equally important. Creating a workplace environment as leaders where team members feel comfortable saying “I don’t fully understand what’s being asked of me can your clarify more” gets far better quality results in a much more efficient time frame than an environment where team members feel like they are a burden or insufficient if they ask for help or more clarity

In my experience, I have found this issue very often. Some people on the same communication page often lead to misunderstanding. First, it is essential to identify the right people for the communication and then decide on the problem to be discussed. It also helps us to understand the type of language to be used.

Like we say, nothing is perfect. We should always strive to get better and better. I follow a similar approach during my communication activities. It is essential to get the people's feedback. It is also necessary to provide feedback to the people to help them get better. In the long run, it helps everyone.

When it comes to leadership lack of feedback given by shared values or ideas our employees voice or disregard for our employees or teams opinions or feelings is a HUGE reason that employees choose not to contribute their ideas, feelings, thoughts or perspectives on situations or ways to grow as a company. This is a huge roadblock to success and scaling up. Our employees want to be heard and feel like their voice matters and when we do not recognize their feedback, take their concerns, ideas or opinions into consideration and discuss them openly either individually or as a team it often has the outcome of people shutting down and not opening up and losing commitment and pride in their jobs and the company’s success.

Empathy is best expressed by listening. Many times, when a person feels as though they are not being heard, they can interpret it as a lack of empathy. Active listening and taking away something actionable from what you learned is key. Listening to understand others' position, as opposed to listening for an opening to express your position is a great start here.

In a team, everybody brings something to the table, and it is essential to acknowledge and respect it, if not encourage them. It helps us provide the different proposed on the concerned matter. At times, I have enjoyed success with solutions from my team members who feel motivated by the team culture, irrespective of their position.

One thing I’ve learned in a one team focused environment is that disagreements or difference of opinions of how to approach things and/or sharing perspective (even when the some or all of your team doesn’t agree) almost always leads to breath throughs and growth in the group. Keeping an open mind in life and business and not having the mindset that your way is the best way allows us to have discussions with our team and collaborate to find the most successful way to get to the end goal. Successful collaboration can’t happen with a room full of close minded individuals who aren’t willing to compromise and try something different for a better result. Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result

One thing that has helped our team with accountability and ownership of daily, quarterly, annually etc. tasks is utilizing Monday.com to manage project management. It has strengthened us as a team and a company to the fullest degree. Weekly meetings discussing each department head’s projects or tasks and tracking progress of said projects has helped immensely in knowing who to refer to for progress and updates, allows for the team to discuss stucks or the need for help from others on the team and has made us so much more effective and efficient. It allows us to celebrate the successes as a team and work together as a team to fix any stucks or issues a team member is facing on a task that they have ownership on when they need it.
