1 Number of roles

Role Based Access Control tracks the right metrics for proper functionality, security and compliance and so on. There is no fixed number of roles. The following domains should be considered when creating roles: - Job Functions: What is the user's responsibility? The assigned role should permit them perform their duties without hinderances, thereby considering the - Principle of Least Privilege: Even though you should enabled to perform your job correctly, you should be given just the right level of permission. - Teamwork and Collaboration - Duration: Short-term Vs Long-term Roles - Compliance Requirements from the Company There are severaly factors to be considered when defining RBAC which are tired to internal and external factors.

- Provide minimum access to user - Monitor permission denied for resources access that can help to determine if role is sufficiently created or further need to create fine grained roles - life time of temporary credential against roles should be less so it should not get used for long even if got compromised - since role is persona of user and can’t be too many, in this situation RBAC with ABAC which is attribute based access control makes whole access control more scalable in current highly scalable resources scalability.
