ERP Optimization (ERPO) - the realization of value from the ERP system investment and implementation, is the only way any organization can attain an ROI from the ERP system. This is a complicated objective and different for every organization. The ERPO usually starts with each area looking at business process re-engineering to change their legacy processes to align with the ERP system. This alone will save tremendous time and also allow the ERP system to capture more data for analysis of throughput and efficiency. Most organizations put in an ERPO system and keep their old processes. For example entering a Purchase Order in the new system but routing a pdf or paper to several parts of the organization via email, printing and filing.
