What are the latest coaching trends and how can you stay up to date?

Having coached hundreds of entrepreneurs, CEOs and President's over the years the single biggest issue I have had to deal with is a lack of follow-up, application and follow-through on issues that they admitted were issues.

Digital tools are Coach's best friend. When it comes to sustainable results for clients, we often talk about habit formation. Accountability, visual cues and proper schedule are of paramount importance. Digital tools help with all of the key components of habit formation and provide data for both client and coach.

Starting from lead generation to understanding client psychology, CRM to retention, the current coaches have to think of going digital. Targeted customers need machine learning and stuff like that. You need a good CRM for client closing, follow up and retention. It’s high time to embrace AI, the 4th revolution of the world.

Two important aspects of integrating with the era of digital transformation would be, in my opinion, Virtual and Remote Coaching and technological integration: Virtual and Remote Coaching: With the rise of remote work, coaching has adapted to virtual formats. Video calls, webinars, and online platforms have become popular for coaching sessions. Technology Integration: Incorporating technology tools such as AI-driven coaching platforms, apps, and assessment tools to enhance coaching effectiveness and provide data-driven insights. I think its vital that we acknowledge the way technology has advanced and will continue to advance, and to stay relevant you need to integrate this into your business and not fight against the current.

Remote work hat den Einsatz von remote Coaching verst?rkt. Tools und Methoden für den Einsatz im remote Coaching haben eine rasante und gute Entwicklung erfahren. Ich habe sehr gute Erfahrungen damit gemacht - sowohl mit den Methoden / Tools, als auch in der Beziehungsarbeit zwischen Coach und Coachee. Es funktioniert ortsunabh?ngig und erm?glicht auch kurzfristige Treffen. Dennoch sch?tze ich die Begegnung in Pr?senz sehr, gerade wenn es um die Wahrnehmung somatischer Marker oder um Arbeit mit Embodiment übungen geht. Mein ideales Format funktioniert hybrid, je nach Situation.

As a coach, it is important to remember that each person is in fact UNIQUE. This requires being aware of our own biases and staying very alert to our assumptions. Curiosity is the greatest antidote and most important nourisher of diversity and inclusion. Connecting with the human in front of us requires connecting with their heart. This has ethical, emotional, biological, and spiritual implications.

Coaching can play a pivotal role in supporting systemic change. We can do this by designing coaching interventions (such as coaching for inclusive leadership) and by working with colleagues in organisational development to understand the barriers for equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. Working only with individuals is not sufficient when there are so many systemic challenges.

In the dynamic landscape of the modern world, the concepts of diversity and inclusion have evolved from being merely buzzwords to becoming foundational principles that drive success and innovation. As a business coach I always keep in mind to recognize that embracing diversity is not just a moral imperative but a strategic advantage that propels businesses to new heights.

Coaching is about caring for each and every individual. It is also about listening and focusing on sharing the "experience". Each journey is unique, as each and every individual. The better we know each other the more successful is the journey to reach our "Ithaca".

Diversity and inclusion have been “in vogue” for a long time amongst those individuals that are humanists, kind, open minded, and realize we are a human family. Count me in that group??

Additionally, trauma research is providing big insight on how people are wired. With the discovered information, tools and strategies, coaches can lead clients to their purpose, productive behaviors, self-awareness and regulation necessary to live one's best life.

If your team does not have a psychological fit, there is no way you can be adaptable at a competitive speed. I've discovered that perspectives and frameworks such as DISC enormously impact how the most productive teams are assembled. Not using psychology guarantees your team will lack cohesion and a potent combination of strengths and weaknesses.

We are witnessing times of change, when our human race and life on Earth are at their core challenged by the need to develop more sustainable lifestyles, more compassionate leadership narratives, as well as more impactful individual and group stories. There are new dimensions of coaching ahead of us, that involve among others, questioning our worldview, and exploring how we can “feel our thoughts” as philosopher Christian de Quincey suggests, as we are creating new narratives, that would reposition our role in a grander scheme of things.

Die Mind-Body-Medizin, integriert alles und liefert seit den 1970er Jahren validierte, ganzheitliche, wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse. Diese Disziplin betont die enge Verbindung zwischen K?rper und Geist und zeigt auf, wie unsere Gedanken, Gefühle und überzeugungen sich auf unsere k?rperliche Gesundheit auswirken k?nnen. Coaching for Social Impact is a form of coaching that focuses on helping individuals, organisations, and communities create positive and lasting social change. It combines traditional coaching techniques in the context of social issues, fostering personal and collective growth, and achieving impactful outcomes. Coaching has traditionally focused on individual change, and targeted to the privileged few. Thankfully, this perception is changing and coaching is also being recognised as a tool to support systemic and societal changes, in communities and organisations. There is growing evidence about the benefit of coaching in health, social care, education, and more effort needs to be put into fully resourcing and evaluating such programmes.

I am not sure I would consider this a "trend" but rather a "movement". My vision is for business to be used as a force for good in the world & I have seen a significant shift recently in businesses focusing more on their purpose & positive impact. These things are no longer a "nice to have", they are a necessity. The millennials, Gen Z's & Gen X's have strong values & morals & from what I have seen businesses are realising that they need to have a strong purpose & values themselves if they are to attract & retain talent (& therefore have a sustainable business).

As a coach, if one is truly driven to help the individual, then society becomes an extension of this goal. Joining local coalitions, participating in local causes, donating time to nonprofits, teaches a coach skills and given them an understanding that is invaluable in private practice.

To be honest, I am getting quite wary and weary of virtue-signaling via green initiatives and social impact activities. I'm a fan of the "don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing" school of thought, where if we wanna contribute, just do it. No need to tell the whole world about it in order to gain a few more likes.

Pour être un bon coach mais surtout le demeurer, je crois qu’il faut également se prêter au jeu d’être coaché. Vouloir accompagner l’autre à devenir meilleur et à évoluer passe sans aucun doute par accepter que nous-mêmes, devons être accompagnés dans notre propre évolution.

Regular and on-going supervision is a golden way to stay up-to-date, relevant and ensure that I am maintaining my enthusiasm and energy fresh. Keeping an eye on my own well-being and resilience is also a contributing factor to add value to my clients.

Never stop learning! Not sure when I started this habit of one book a week. Initially it was just to tick a box. After a while, you will be amazed how much you have learned just by reading consistently. My favourites? Autobiographies.

As a “seniorpreneur” I’m obviously a big fan of continuous learning. I’m 63 and run my online business with help from my 75 year old sister. We’re offering a great example to my coaching clients of how your age doesn’t need to define you or hold you back from anything you want to do.

This requires that you commit to a journey of personal growth, expansion and healing. Our greatest responsibility as coaches is to guide people through this transformational journey. To help them release their old imprints and limiting beliefs. To help them let go of their inner blocks to wellbeing, love and success. To help them connect to their power. To provide them a safe space filled with love and compassion where they can grow. The greatest measure of your success as a coach is the value of transformation you are able to provide for your client.

Foundation, values and imagination. These are the two things which I have been coming across in my coaching engagements in today’s world when everything is getting digital, white washed and virtual.It’s becoming way more critical for people to be in touch with their core values. We need to focus our clients on using their imagination and working off of their core values. This will not only help them in their personal spaces but also will add a lot of value in their workspace as well.

Here are several key trends shaping the coaching industry in 2023: Adapting to the Metaverse: Coaches are exploring how virtual reality can enhance coaching experiences, such as using avatars for deep thinking and creative solutions. Personal and Business Branding: Coaches are focusing on building strong personal and business brands, which is crucial for standing out in the industry. Individualized Experiences: Tailoring coaching programs to specific client’s needs and goals is a growing trend. Personalization is key to helping clients achieve their desired outcomes. Emphasis on Holistic Health: Clients are seeking coaches who can provide guidance on holistic health, indicating a shift towards wellness and well-being.

I find that more people are interested to work with coaches who can help them with their professional goals while supporting them in living a more harmonious life. Mindfulness, Emotional Intelligence, Trauma Informed Coaching are some of the growing topics in the field.

I think AI is going to be a game changer. Also a scary proposition. While machines help in the process of understanding emotions, Im not sure if they can imitate complex human emotions. Coaching is a field that requires a lot of emotional maturity. Until computers are trained for this....understanding oneself better will be in the forefront of understanding the trends in coaching.
