This biz case would include high level cost estimates, and high level business benefits. 4) incorporate some idea of project plan, which outlines the people, processes, and tools needed to enable the strategy 5) highlight any key dependencies to enable the plan - esp. data governance 6) Define the org model and roles

To really achieve MDM value, data profiling and cleansing is key. One of the author already highlighted importance of putting right data into MDM. DQ is of prime importance to avoid unwarranted data coming into system. This way you can avoid lot of duplicates at first place and let MDM work on really finding real duplicates. Another important perspective which MDM offers is business process management. This if used in proper way can ease out lot of data governance issues.

More time and effort typically goes into the first topic, which means capability development can be challenging. The more reliable and data-driven your maturity assessment is, the more powerful the identified step-ups will be.
