It's essential to ensure that the EVP resonates not just with the company's values but also with the aspirations of potential candidates. If its a win-win at the end of the conversation you know the candidate is a definite hire and you created an amazing experience.

Many times, the candidate application process used to be so tedious and lengthy which actually affects the candidate experience. For eg: Uploading resume with all the relevant details on ATS still need to manually adding the details make it a big task which candidates definitely not liking it. The process should be as Resume parsing with automatic details filler and requesting for details only where it is missing or unable to capture. This way, it will be easy for candidates.

As a TA, I always mention this day-in-out that developing transparency with the candidates from the beginning is important to build trust and confidence through out the process. To my mind, there are three people who can influence a positive candidate experience: 1. Recruiter - Each candidate needs to be given a personalized experience based on their area of expertise, level of seniority and the geographical nuances. 2. Hiring manager (HM) - They need to look at each interview as a talent pipeline building exercise. A candidate might be only a silver medal candidate for the HM during the present interview. But, that candidate might be a future hire for their function. If the process if followed with this mindset, the candidate experience elevates. 3. Functional leader - The role of the leader is to educate the new hire about the strategic direction and opportunities available for the candidate.

I think not only communicate with candidates before the interview and create a positive interview experience, but we should also interact with candidates after the interview to enhance their experience. Whether the interview’s results, we need to send an email, or phone call, or message to thank them for participating in the interview and to inform them of the results in polite and professional words

Let’s talk about unsuccessful candidates. A nice mantra to consider - the more time a candidate invests in your process, the more you need to invest in them. You should respond to every candidate, obviously. But too many employers fall short on the experience for shortlisted candidates who end up being unsuccessful. If someone has taken the time to interview with you, give them decent feedback. It’s the right thing to do, and it’s smart - that unsuccessful candidate could be an awesome future hire… and an advocate for you - as an employer or a company.

If we fail to create good ones, it's harder to fix it later. For me a new person needs to get detailed schedule for the first week and then regular checks with clear goals for each month of the first 6 months. New employee should also get constant feedback and opportunity to ask questions on regular basis. Good tactic is providing "a buddy" to the new employee - someone who is not managing the person but can show a person around the company, take person to lunch, coffee, a bit less "official" support for the first days and weeks.

Being transparent; clear during the offer; give the right time to decide; being open for more questions are just few thigngs to consider; not just a branded offer letter. From the moment the candidate accepts we need to capitalize the time we have up to the starting date. Getting to know coworkers, virtual tours of the office, project status and intro of the area are some great initiatives to make the process memorable.

Beim Thema Pre-Boarding sende ich neuen Team-Mitgliedern vorab eine selbst geschriebene Postkarte und bringe darin meine Vorfreude auf Tag 1 zum Ausdruck. Beim Onboarding selbst lege ich mehr Wert darauf, das Ende der Probezeit zu feiern als an Tag 1 eine Party zu veranstalten. Denn das Gefühl gemeinsam etwas erreicht zu haben, stellt sich erst mit der Zeit ein - ist dann aber für mich DER Moment That Matters, den es zu bespielen gilt.

Stop treating the candidate experience as a transaction. Yes- your teams may be hiring for lots of roles and handling many different tasks, but to the candidates this is much more than a transaction - it is a hugely important life decision with many emotions and ramifications tied to it. Saying you are "too busy" to do right by candidates is flat-out unacceptable. If you take the time to understand the deeply emotional and impactful consequences of every communication, interaction and touchpoint you will immediately stand out from the countless companies who do not. You work hard to attract people to your roles and company, the quickest way to undo all that work is to not deliver on your brand promise.

Remember that a talent's experience with a company begins even before they consider applying. It can start with an accidental touchpoint, such as reading a CEO's critical comment about the younger generation or seeing rude remarks by HR personnel on their personal social media. Such instances can immediately create a negative impression, deterring potential candidates from applying now or in the future.

In my experience one of the greatest drivers of a positive candidate experience is in giving the candidate feedback (should they want it). This shows respect and appreciation for their time and effort. This massively impacts what they will feel about you as an employer and what they say to others about the experience too. Investing in giving quality feedback is not just helpful but professional and speaks volumes about you as an employer. There are many cases where we have silver medalists in the process and when another role arises, a repeat approach to the candidate will have a far more positive response if we have taken time to give quality, transparent, actionable feedback to those who came second or third in the race
