GPRS, or General Packet Radio Service, is a data transmission mode that allows mobile devices to access the internet and other services over a cellular network. The higher data rate is significantly faster than GSM's 9.6 kbps, permitting applications like web browsing, email, and multimedia streaming. Additionally, GPRS users do not have to dial up or disconnect from the network, thus reducing latency and improving the user experience. Furthermore, GPRS users are charged based on the amount of data they transfer, making it more economical and suitable for intermittent and bursty data usage.
GPRS has some limitations that can affect its performance and reliability, such as variable data rates. This means that GPRS users may experience fluctuations and drops in their data speeds, particularly in areas with high traffic or low coverage.
