A key consideration is the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and tools, as this allows them to stay abreast of the latest advancements in their field and enhance their skill set. They also look for roles that offer challenging and interesting projects, which not only provide a sense of professional fulfillment but also contribute to their career growth. Another crucial aspect is the work environment and company culture, as a supportive and innovative atmosphere can greatly impact job satisfaction.

One thing I've found useful is the learning curve and an academy with a plethora of programs so that IT professionals can build and strengthen a skillset high in demand in the talent market.

Certainly, the majority of candidates seek opportunities for skill development in their current or potential workplace. Senior developers, in particular, express interest in elevated roles like lead positions or architects to contribute directly to the company's vision. Concurrently, many companies aim to provide their employees with complimentary training sessions and lectures to keep up with new technologies and trends.

Most importantly empowerment of making decisions and goal oriented culture as opposed to time bound culture. A culture where people feel a sense of belongingness and where individual identities are weaved into a tapestry of rich culture.

When I’ve recruited IT candidates, the deciding factor always revolves around the type or work they will be assigned. Ping pong tables and Beer Fridays are still cool, but if the projects are dated, you have a snowballs chance on a beach of landing that prospect. Align with the hiring team to really understand what is cool about the work and be able to communicate it effectively to the candidate. Give examples (if you can) of what is coming down the pipe to get them excited, rather than talking about what has already been done.

I've encountered candidates expressing a desire to work on projects with substantial benefits for people. Their motivation stems from a genuine belief that developing products aimed at enhancing or improving humanity provides a greater sense of purpose in their work.

IT professionals seek environments that encourage innovative thinking. They may also flock to companies that foster a culture of innovation, allowing their employees to propose and implement new ideas!

From my experience, it's a range of different things. Yes; Money talks and makes the world go around, However, from years of working with skilled Technical professionals I've found many put a large emphasis on the projects they will get to work on, and the Technologies they will get exposure to. Autonomy is also something almost everyone values. Tech professionals must be allowed to exercise their knowledge and ability to do the job, their way. After all, you are hiring them for their skills and abilities.

Compensation, including salary and benefits, is naturally a vital factor, but so is the potential for career advancement and professional development opportunities. Work-life balance is increasingly important, with many IT professionals seeking flexible working conditions that allow them to maintain a healthy balance between their professional and personal lives. Finally, job stability and the company's market position are often considered, as they prefer to work for organizations that offer long-term security and are well-regarded in the industry.

I do think this is dependent on the candidate and their background. For example; Engineers; - Tech Stack - Remote/WFH policy - Culture/Compensation Cyber Security: - Is the business serious about Cyber Security, do they have the support from senior leadership, budget and resources? - Reporting line / salary - as this very quickly tells the candidate what the firms stance is on Cyber Security as a whole
