While online portfolios can showcase the range of your past work, busy designers don't usually have the time to update them. For example, my online portfolio has not been updated in the last 2 years. But I have been able to get consistent work despite of this. How so? By investing time on content on places where my ideal clients hang out: linkedin. Network, referrals and a lot of luck helped too. So don't overthink your portfolio, it's just one of the ways to help others to see your work online.

If you're starting out, do not overthink this. Find something easy and affordable for you. Webflow is an easy choice. Pick or buy a portfolio theme and customize it with your work. Don't spend more than a week on it. Spend your time on other high impact activity like content and networking. Once you're in a place where you want to upgrade because you have bigger and better clients, then invest more on it.

Market yourself with exactly what you are striving to be rather than what you currently are. If you want to "be that person, in that industry" it is essential that everything in your brand pack should direct to that messaging.
