What are the essential accessories for professional photographers?

I find that the most useful accessory in photography is the tripod. For outdoors and studio shootings the tripod is, for me, a mandatory companion. This tool helps me concentrate in the creative process, directing the scene and composing. In studio, I can communicate directly to the client or the model like in a normal conversation, hands free not through the camera. For product photography, I can take several pictures from the same spot to make later a composition in post-production. In both cases, I can exactly set the lighting up which cannot possible when the camera is not in the exact same position. Outdoors, it is good not only for long exposure effect but also for panoramas and well defined compositions waiting for the right moment.

In my view the most important ingredient is " YOU " . I think the biggest mistake is running around like a chicken with your head cut off trying to get all the " alleged " PRO tools. I'm currently a professional photographer and I don't own a light meter! Or high end long lens. Why? Because of what "I " do profesiobally as a photographer doesn't require one. What " I'm " doing and the clients I do it for .. these items are. It needed. Most times people turning pro buy what they don't need. You should be adding to your professional gear as NEEDED.. not as stocked before hand. Obviously first u need a camera. From there it grows . You'll know what to buy and why

Je n’utilise que très rarement le trépied. Cela me permet de rester plus mobile et de capter la belle lumière en faisant varier mes cadrages, même en paysage. Je préfère une photo qui a du sens, qui fait passer de l’émotion, même si elle n’est pas parfaite d’un point de vue technique, à une photo trop ??propre??.

A ball head fixing allows fast and accurate levelling. This will save a lot of time framing up with your eye at the viewfinder. No messing with leg height adjustments. And you can set the horizon (for example)at the same time.

Flashes also are mandatory tools for most professional photographers because photography is about the use of light. For studio portrait and product photography, flashes are essential to produce high quality results not possible with regular indoor lamps. In outdoor photography, flashes make a world of difference because they help making the background darker for a more control balance between the subject the surroundings and not having a blown out background. With flashlight, the colors pop and the patterns can be controlled better. In most commercial photography, low ISO is needed so flashlight is the way to go.

Wer mit Blitzen arbeitet, bringt ein Element mehr in die Fotografie, n?mlich das gezielte und kontrollierte Arbeiten mit Licht und Lichtformern. Für meine Portraits arbeite ich auch viel outdoor mit Blitzen. Ich kann mit der Gestaltung des Lichtes noch mehr kreativ sein und Stimmungen bewusst verst?rken oder ver?ndern. Wichtig finde ich aber auch die Wahl des Lichtformers und da gibt es zahlreiche M?glichkeiten. Angefangen habe ich mit entfesseltem Blitzen mit den Handblitzger?ten. Heute arbeite ich mit zwei tragbaren Akkuger?ten von Profoto, dem B10X. Dies aus dem Grund, dass ich mehr Leistung haben m?chte um auch bei Sonnenlicht mit einer Softbox sch?ne Portraits machen zu k?nnen.

A good on camera flash is a must for location shooting at events. More elaborate set ups are needed for studio and location shoots with product or models etc. But for event photography having a good spread of light on top of your camera is an awesome tool. I like speed lights with swivel heads. As a rule the flash never shoots at the subject. Having a swivel head allows you to bounce off walls etc, as well as the ceiling

Je n’utilise jamais le flash. Je me place en fonction de la lumière et j’organise mon cadrage en fonction des ombres. Ce sont elles qui structurent mon image. Je choisis la lumière que je veux mettre en valeur et je règle mon appareil en conséquence.

Obviously in dark we need flashes to compensate low light. In photojournalism flashes or speed light is must. Also in portrait photography flashes can be essential, specially when the sun shines intensely and make thick shadows. Fill-in light by using speed light can compensate this effects. Also in artistic approach, flashes may use separately, remotely controlled and help us to create special effect for instance.

There is no need to buy a new camera every year, if we protect our gear by keeping them clean, with no impact or shocks. By proper maintenance we can use our camera for decade or more! So protecting cases for cameras is indisputable necessary, specially when we aware of cameras enemies; dust, moisture, direct sunlight, coldness, hot weather, and any other shocks.

Outre le fait de protéger son bo?tier et ses objectifs des chocs, j'emporte toujours dans mon sac, un étui imperméable pour les missions de terrain. Le climat tropical, parfois très humide et changeant, ne pardonne pas le matériel du photographe qui passe de longues heures sous la pluie battante. Cela permet de minimiser les risques liés à l'humidité et à l'infiltration d'eau dans les appareils. Le terme "tropicalisé" ne signifiant pas "étanche".

If we have experienced a low battery warning while facing an exceptional subject and regret not being able to take a photo, then we realize the importance of spare batteries. Just remember not to mix fully charged batteries with discharged batteries, we can mark new batteries.

Partir en "vadrouille" et découvrir que la batterie du bo?tier est vide. Cauchemar pour les photographes qui rateront peut-être la photo d'une vie. J'exagère peut-être mais dans le doute, je pars systématiquement avec une ou deux batteries supplémentaires. Cette mésaventure m'est arrivée lors de prises de vues sur une cérémonie. Les vidéos gourmandes en énergie nécessitent d'anticiper ce type de problématique. N'ayant pas vérifié, j'ai corrigé mon erreur par un aller-retour "express". Je vérifie depuis, qu'il y ait toujours des batteries "chargées" dans le sac.

CRUCIAL! Having a high-speed memory card with good amount of storage is very important. It'll increase the speed of your work while shooting and while transferring data. Slow speed cards take time to write and sometimes at continuous shooting just after few clicks, they stop and show "BUSY" on screen. And even while checking the images in gallery they take time to load properly.

Obligatoire. Si l'appareil ne dispose pas de mémoire interne, il est impensable de partir sans. Il sera alors important de choisir la carte mémoire la plus adaptée selon sa vitesse d'écriture/lecture, et selon sa capacité de stockage. Comme pour les batteries, avoir deux ou trois cartes mémoires avec soi, n'est pas un luxe. La carte mémoire, petite et légère, se montrera pratique pour le transport et le transfère de photos/vidéos.

I never use a tripod for a DSLR, but I have several that I use for large format cameras. The reason I use a DSLR is because it's lightweight and handheld. I shoot fashion and portraiture and like the freedom of movement. I think the most important studio accessory is a laptop and a tethering cable. Shooting on a laptop allows you to control the image quality and everyone uses a Digitech. I use a MacBook Pro, unfortunately it's fragile and I'm considering upgrading to a Dell or something more robust, photography equipment is an investment and I like to keep it for a long time. That's why I get the best, but I want it to last!

Elementos esenciales que siempre llevo conmigo (1) Mi cámara (A7IV Sony) (2) Mi lente (24-70mm 2.8) (3) Un flash (Tengo varios, pero de ellos solo me quedaría con el AD600pro) (4) Mi memoria SD UHS con una velocidad considerable para poder facilitarle la lectura de imágenes a mi cámara y, más allá de eso, mi teléfono para ver todas las referencias posibles en el trabajo. Podría quedarme sin el flash y salir de mi zona de confort para realizar el trabajo, sin embargo como profesional utilizar estas herramientas ha hecho que le de un "glow up" a cada material que entrego.
