Of the four principles of Data Mesh, most impactful in my view is “Data as a Product” thinking. It fundamentally changes how we view data. Instead of saying "if you need my data, you can come get it, transform it and then I don't care", product thinking puts value realization on the top i.e. "what should I do so that my consumers can get the most value out of this data". This product thinking leads to creation of high quality, easy to consume data by domain experts who knows the data best. That said, I still haven’t seen a good internal financial model that incentivizes domain teams to serve data to other domains. That’s something to be worked out.

Low code is great in a business environment. With little supervision key decision makers can explore the data better for their own purposes. Without low code this will not be possible

With the fifth generation languages (5GL) such as Prolog, Mercure, et. al. we already have a definition for languages based on problem-solving. My prediction is that we will see a myriad of emergent solutions in this niche, but what I am wondering about, will we see a sixth generation and what will it be? Maybe something along the lines of active dialogue, which will create problem and solution demand statements? Going back to the original question: the importance to our business stems from much reduced skill requirements for coding. Allowing to hire domain experts of other areas of interest, or promote internal talent with much reduced training need. This might not sound exciting, so let me put it like that: soon everyone can create code!

In my experience this is more complicated to translate to senior executives. The AI can do great things and it is more transparent but going into detail is a challenge of communication especially with no technical peers.

Edge AI: Doing some AI processing directly on devices (like your phone or a sensor) instead of relying only on big servers. This makes things faster and more private. 2. Responsible AI: Using AI in a way that's fair, transparent, and accountable. This is important for making ethical decisions with AI. 3. Graph Databases: Special databases that are good at understanding and using relationships between different pieces of data, useful for things like social networks or recommendations.

I am bullish on the the following trends: 1) Data Centric AI - Builds AI systems by focusing on data-centric work rather than spending a ton of energy on model refinement. The term is coined by Mr. Andrew Ng. I am not a Data Scientist, but the natural evolution to Data centric AI just makes sense to me. Models are maturing at a rapid pace and the real differentiator will be the data. 2) Synthetic data - This is artificially generated data from the ground up that mimics patterns, mix, conditions, volume and variety of real world data. This will soon go beyond AI/ML tabular data into the world of application development and will massively improve quality engineering in my view.

For biz, staying updated with these trends and effectively integrating them into theirs strategies can lead to more efficient operations, improved customer experiences, and new opportunities for growth and innovation.
