If your product does not have scale beyond 20000Request per minute per API and your customers are looking for SaaS solution, Its time to look at serverless architecture. Since you are using same web application development frameworks to define API, event driven systems, with abstraction layer, tomorrow same application can be deployed as K8s microservice. It will need minimum implementation effort, which is worth of saving till need arise.

Statelessness - Managing state across stateless functions adds complexity, especially for stateful applications. Performance Constraints - Limitations on execution time, memory, and processing power can hinder compute-intensive tasks. Cost Predictability - Variable usage patterns can lead to fluctuating and unpredictable costs.

Agree on the answer but here are some crazy interesting challenges that always give me panic attacks: Complexity: Managing and tracking a multitude of events can become super complex. Debugging and Testing: Tracing and diagnosing issues in asynchronous, distributed systems is more challenging than in traditional architectures. Event Storms: High volumes of events can overwhelm systems, leading to performance bottlenecks. Event Consistency: Ensuring consistent event processing across distributed systems can be difficult. Latency: In some cases, the asynchronous nature of EDA can introduce latency in event processing.
