The only effective way is to have regular meetings. No agenda or expectations. It's an open relationship between two people. How do our SHIPS RELATE to each other? You never know what is going to happen. One time I had to be an emotional support for my mentor whose father had died.

Mentorship is critical to your overall growth and professional development. It also allows you to continually learn, adapt and be flexible. Mentors are often your safe space but instead of using these sessions to just crib and whine - just it for problem solving, brainstorming ideas and for someone who can listen and guide. And remember both the mentor and mentee have a vested interest in this relationship - it’s about leaning, staying curious and giving back.
