In term of design, the first thing need to be identified is standard design and specification which will be used as required by the project stakeholder. As if in the different country or even area, the standard design will be different. Sometime the project owner also has specific standard design requirement which need to be followed to satisfy their needs.

First of all, you look at the design criteria that is the specification and you track the formation and installations of your steel members. Both the aspects are important as certain aspects of a project are achieved by specific deliverables and therefore the use of steel structures provide the flexibility and provision of complex architectural features, however at the same time construction management ensures those certain deliverables are successfully achieved.

I help my team with technical specifications and requirements for steel structure design and construction, such as codes, standards, regulations, loads, materials, connections, fabrication, and erection, through planned meetings where we review and discuss initial design concepts and alternatives. In my opinion, a Project Manager upon the request of the Owner’s Representative shall hire. Qualified individuals for peer reviewing structural steel design and criteria typically include experienced structural engineers who are not directly involved in the project. These reviewers should possess expertise in the structural engineering relevant field and have a solid understanding of state and local codes, standards, and best practices. The peer review process benefits from individuals with diverse experiences to provide a comprehensive assessment. It’s common for peer reviewers to have a Professional Engineer (PE) valid license in the State where the Project will be installed, and at least 15 years of experience in structural engineering.

The most crucial part of the structure. If this part is not taken into consideration very seriously it will be disaster whoever is building. For design main factors we should consider is the requirement of the structure, the loads that are applied on the structure, location and environments. After clearing the above-mentioned factors then we go into design check the section which can be used here, the specification, connections, the support condition. after checking these factors. consider how the load is distributed when an external force is applied on the structure.

In my experience, an independent evaluation performed by a person qualified and licensed by the state where the Project is located, as a Professional Engineer specialized in the field of Construction Engineering and able to prepare a Peer Review Report related to all aspects of detailing, fabricating, and erecting the structural steel framing of the Project. Qualified Professionals for these tasks typically include experienced Specialized Structural Engineers (SSE) working as Consultants, properly insured, and strong background in the construction industry. SSE should have a deep understanding of structural steel construction processes, contractual agreements, quality control, safety management, and other Structural Steel related areas.

Professionals qualified to measure and evaluate project outcomes based on design requirements, indicators, and metrics include certified construction structural engineers, and qualified inspectors with experience in structural engineering and construction inspection. These experts should be well-versed in relevant codes and standards, possess strong analytical skills, and have experience in conducting detailed inspections. The ability to provide accurate as-built surveys and comprehensive, written inspection reports is essential to communicate findings effectively. Certification and relevant experience in structural engineering and inspection contribute to the qualifications needed for this role.

PDCA is an important factor when comes to design and construction process. The process itself gives a clear idea of where our failure can come in while designing or during the construction process.
