Certainly, selecting the right team members up front who share the same vision starts off a project the right way. Even adults need to know how they personally benefit from a project so it is important to share with them how this works in their favor (and even how it works for them career-wise.) Realistic deadlines are a must too since many initiatives are "extra" work above and beyond their list of responsibilities.

Understanding what you are, what you do and what you stand for is very crucial in sharing your narrative. You only give what you have by knowing what you have and being able to define it as necessary.

I would start by getting clarity about the goals and expected outcomes. Taking time to listen, learn and understand your stakeholders. Based on feedback discuss the collective and shared narrative with your stakeholders. Cultivate these relationships and help to amplify the voices of your stakeholders. Help to bridge and unite whenever possible. And help to create excitement about this story in a way that inspires and evokes a the call to action for your stakeholders and audience.

The magnitude of what we all learned would have been over a thousand pages but laws and regulations prevented us from delivering solutions- We created paper surveys in 5 languages and hosted 100s of listening sessions in the various counties and various languages. Based on the grouping of stakeholders that has been established and an analysis of the momentum and opportunities of interest regarding the raised issue, initiate a two-way discussion with each stakeholder. Formulate the outcomes in qualitative terms and conduct a focus group discussion with all stakeholders grouped according to their respective interests or needs.

Repeat the story then repeat it again. Imagine you're a revolving door. The door only goes one direction. Pushing counter-clockwise will stop you. Pushing clockwise will help others see the direction. If your story has been successful, keep telling that. Inspire your stakeholders to push behind you.

Have an exercise where stakeholders share stories, written anonymously, spoken, or shared in another way that allows space for many different contributors. Build accessibility into each exercise including for neurodivergent voices. Remember that everyone learns and communicates differently. Actively listen and engage with compassion.

In my extensive experience serving on boards, committees and commissions it took years working together to create a dynamic where individual honesty could exist. I was always eager to learn from others but not everyone is as passionate so I had a hard time connecting with others who thought I was less than because I had no degree. I can say 30 years later I’m still in contact with people in various government agencies who mentored me. I’m a Bridge Builder who knows what I DON’T KNOW and will seek guidance from those who do. Now for those meeting virtually the human interactions are limited and relationships are very difficult to maintain so having group rules is helpful. The way to connect with others is through our hearts. Identify what is important to those we serve, understand what is being presented to our best ability and then fulfill it. If we don't captivate our stakeholders heart we would never captivate their mind and stimulate a whole community response.
