Below are my views on team recognition and rewards - Firstly, these should be constant and not time based like during Mid Year/Year End appraisals, 1-1's with employees. - Periodic Rewards and Recognitions(R&R) are really helpful in motivating the personnel who receives one and also pushes others in team to follow best practices to be in the next RnR. - This brings a healthy competition in the team and increase in productivity. - Adding remarks/commentary with the rewards adds that special touch to the reward and makes it more meaninful for the recipient. - Remember, it is always incremental appreications/motivations which keep the employees engaged and produce great work rather than yearly once feedbacks.

You would be amazed how many employees have voiced in exit interviews that they struggled with remaining a part of a company, not because of a dearth in monetary compensation but the fact that they felt un appreciated and disposable. I believe, as in every good design the experience matters the most - Be where your team is, not adding a separate workflow - Although eventually, it needs to be accessible to all similar job families, pilot and iterate with feedback, making the team a part of the design process - Transparent and clarity on how it works, and the progression to success is key - Consistency and habit forming are useful for adoption.

I have practically experienced this method and the outcome was generally acceptable despite the fact that an individual won several awards but it was obviously on merit.

Web3 and internet native organisations have introduced several new constructs that make loyalty a contract to be negotiated daily, yet we still feel belonging. AI, Web3, GenZ perceptions on work and the quiet quitting might have changed rewards. I am looking forward to observing, changing and building in the space in the next years.
