What are effective networking strategies for social workers?

The same as with any other profession - active listening, not over selling and social proof. Really just putting ourselves out there to network is more than half the battle! And simply being nice :)

I agree, when I do networking very important to have goals or what you want to achieve if you are connected and able to know them more. I don't believe in networking just want to find friends without ulterior motives because I know for sure if someone wants to be friended or start networking with you, that person has something/goal to achieve from you, they must have motives. And when you have goals for starting networking, it will help you to communicate better, to start the communication, and to get something from the initiative you've made. Without goals, it is only a waste of time for your networking targets, which shows that you do not value their time.

LinkedIn really does have most of the tools required within messaging such as calendar and video calls and the ability to set away messages, go live with video or audio, and so much more. Knowing how to reach your audience where they are and having a good tech stack can go a long way.

I also agree. is different if you do networking from a referral within your inner network, you can do it without any platforms or tools. However, if you want to do networking outside your network, tools or platforms are very useful. Because it helps you to broaden your reach, and your chances for networking also get larger. Not to mention the reach will be very huge, outside your current network circle. however, you also have to be careful because the larger the reach, the quality of networking might be reduced.

This part I also agree. however, you have to be very agile and brave to say 'hi' to someone. otherwise, you will be in a situation that makes you uncomfortable because you are not used to those kinds of situations (a lot of people you don't know). Hence, to make it easier for you to make an introduction to the local events or activities, you have to do research and mark your targets as well. For example, I often already research who will be attending the event and what my target person looks like. so when I see them at the event, I'll go to introduce myself and call their name. So they will feel close to us. (even tho we actually never met).

This is absolutely correct. When you successfully connect, the networking is not done yet. In fact, networking will never be finished or done. It's a continuous activity and process. Hence, every time you do your introduction or discussion you have to maintain communication by saying 'hi', 'thank-you notes', or anything that can keep them remembering you. or you can also ask for a next meeting, lunch, etc as well.

Yes, and networking is not one-way relations, its two ways. So, whether you have met your goal or not, you have to keep engaging with them. In fact, if you are able to be helpful and kind to them (genuine) your networking will go to the next level of networking like 'Friendships'. I do have a lot of close friends that actually start from professional networking.
