Set your conditions. Be clear on the pros and cons and dos and nonos. If it's interpreting, be clear to the client that 45minutes is the threshold time before switching. If it's document translation, make sure to have a dedicated space to work in. Make sure the space is isolated, with sufficient privacy to focus on the task at hand. Listening to classical music helps maintain focus, but make sure it's at a decent volume level. Have enough references to consult; it always helps to have standardized print material (Glossaries, Terminology databases with terms exclusive to the organization or field you're working on -seldom do they vary) Do research and run by the client to make sure everyone is on the same page before project kick-off.
