Be mindful of opportunities that do not fit the “box” because they may just be your golden ticket to professional and personal success.

Networking is a must. It’s is also extremely important to do it is all possible ways, including on LinkedIn. Therefore, my advice is to work on the Linkedin profile as early as possible and before using this platform to apply for jobs. Being visible by commenting genuinely on others’ posts here is just as important.

Students need to draft their CVs error-free, highlighting their unique selling points as potential employees. A well-crafted CV should grab the recruiter's attention while still being concise. In today's digital era, there are many AI tools available to help make CVs ready for various job portals. It's important to take care of the keywords and phrases that are used.

Be open to different possibilities. I’ve found it’s helpful to map your skills to possible positions by looking at what an employer is looking for and what skills or abilities you can offer. Don’t be afraid to pull from all your experiences.

Students and recent grads often seem to overlook or miss the immense networking potential that their professors have to offer. Some of my best networking 'friends' leading to my most meaningful experiences after graduating were professors! From those who've stuck around in the same institution for decades, to newly tenured faculty and even those who have some industry experience. I've also seen the value addition a professor's network can offer to quite a few batchmates. Lesson: make at least one professor your best friend. :)

People around your network that you trust and respect will be a great asset for your professional and as well as to your individual life.

Use networking events as an opportunity to showcase your critical thinking abilities by engaging in conversations about current events relevant to the industry in which you are pursuing a job. In the last few years, I have noticed a change in the trend among Indian students. Many are opting for jobs after graduation, such as BBA, instead of pursuing an MBA. To obtain these jobs, their paths are clear, and they start networking by connecting through LinkedIn, taking visiting cards of guest/industry lecturers, and doing internships and live projects. This generation is fast-paced, and if someone wants to win the race, they should have the volatility to adapt.

If you cannot gain experience via direct employment, then try my top tips: 1. Do your own research. This will enhance your academic progression and increase networking. You can research for companies if you want to obtain short term income. 2. Volunteer to speak about your academic career to schools. Inspire persons today and they very well be your students tomorrow. 3. Volunteer with professional organizations. I have volunteered with the Institution of Civil Engineers for over 15 years and the experience has been rewarding. It also increases networking and potential for job opportunities. These tips help you to gain experience and create variety on your resume. Potential employers welcome the variety.

Exactly. I applied to over 40 universities before I closed with the right one. Each time I received a letter of rejection, I had to refocus quickly and remain positive. It pays off in the end because you eliminate which universities are not the right fit for your career and then streamline those that are. It helps to remain positive in the face of adversity because you want to maintain good mental health. Stay away from negativity which attempts to downgrade your achievements. Know your worth. Only you can promote you.

The BEST and most important thing to do when looking for a job is to pray and ask the Lord what He wants you to do with your life. The safest place in the world is to be in the center of His will and do what He instructs you to do. You will avoid a lot of grief if you put the Lord first. I speak this from experience. He will always put you on the right path. He will give you meaning and purpose in your life.

I would look for the other options may be beyond my study area in some time. Thes days job are not found based on the study area, like mechanical engineer can perform well in management consulting firm.

If I'm having difficulty finding a job after graduating from higher education, I would expand my job search to include a wider range of industries or consider internships or volunteer opportunities to gain experience. Networking with professionals in my field, seeking mentorship, and refining my resume and interview skills are also essential. Additionally, I might explore further education or certifications to enhance my qualifications.

B) Education is backbone, one must use it to explore all possibilities and should not stick to only one option. Using education background as one must try to reach the maximum potential. C) One must be ready to start even from small steps and be ready to work hard to get the experience. D) Expand your network E) Attend workshops and webinar to stay updated and make new connections.

First, check your own expectations. Are you looking for too much money, too much flexibility from potential employers? Remember that your first job will likely be an entry-level position, and might not pay or provide all that you want. But focus on adding to your resume and skill set. You might need to take a job that isn't ideal. Don't worry, you will get there. Meanwhile, try volunteering, upskilling with some additional education (courses, certificates, etc.). And have a professional career advisor or counselor review both your cover letter and resume.

Seeking professional support from a career advisor or employment coach is a great start to assessing your application documents and approach throughout the job search process. There could be specific things that particular industries are looking for that are missing from the application. Maybe, the individual has been targeting senior positions that clearly require more experience. There could be a snag at the interview stage that caused an abrupt disconnection. Maybe, the references were not the best to have represent you or the employer/recruiter just could not get a hold of them. It could possibly be the applicant's social media presence and possible views on sensitive topics that did not go over well with the employer.
