What do you do if you're faced with a panel interview?

I agree. Although panel interviews can sometimes be intimidating it helps to do your research and answer calmly. Do your homework about the company, its mission, vision and values. What projects are they working on next? What is their strategic direction? Smile, exude confidence and knowledge. Listen carefully to the question being asked. Pause to think if you have to. Look the Interviewer in the eye. Eye contact shows you are focused, and interested. Look at everyone and nod in agreement if appropriate. Speak slowly and clearly. At the end, ask questions if given the opportunity. Have prepared questions ready. Thank each panelist for their time.

When faced with a panel interview, if you are aware of who the panelists are, research on each and bring in some information about them in the interview to create a rapport. Ease it into the conversation, don't make it mechanical. If you have no idea who will be interviewing you, research the company, read through the job description and be prepared to share experiences that align with the requirements. Prepare for structural and behavioral interview questions. Keep your answers short and concise while ensuring you engage with the entire panel as you respond.

This is an important issue to evaluate own skills aswell as the history of the organisation,where you are going to be interviewed.

During the interview, address the person who asks the question, but maintain eye contact with other panel members to keep them engaged. Stay calm and composed, and don't be afraid to ask for clarification if needed. You can tell real-life examples to demonstrate your strengths. This approach will demonstrate professionalism and help you stand out in a multi-person interview setting.

Conversation must be productive unless keep listening to eachother without being interrupted, but many between the lines of communication,we could not get the actual views of the respondents, therefore listening is must, without getting irritation.

It usually goes without saying, but be sure to adequately answer the question just asked. Sometimes you may be more nervous going into a panel interview and have planned important answers and examples. Then, with so many things in mind or thinking to the next topic, you may miss that you didn’t really answer the question just asked. Remember, it’s okay to clarify for a panelist after a reply, “Did that fully answer your question?” Ensure that the panelists are receiving the information they need, then relate examples or information you want to be sure to add. Plan your highlights before the interview, but also focus on providing panelists the information they see as most relevant once the interview begins.

The most vital part how you are going to represent the views on which you are unknown and how much articulative in presenting the knowledge and skills already acquired by you.

Whoever sets up the interview for you, make sure you get the names and positions of everyone that will be on that panel. Then do your research on them, their accomplishments, what they post on LinkedIn, and of course research the company as well. This will allow give you at least a basic idea on who you'll be speaking with and if you're good at communicating, then try to find common ground with those panelist and use that to your advantage during the interview.

Don’t be intimidated by the numbers. In the past I’ve had large and small panel interviews. Yes, it’s a different dynamic, but try to think of each person individually. If it seems overwhelming to think about the group, make sure you focus on each person as if it’s a one-on-one interview. Use eye contact and body language to ensure you engage each panelist. You might look at other panelists while giving answers that require more detail or explanation. However, always be sure to look at the person asking when you begin an answer. While you may look at others to keep engaged, direct your mental focus on one person at a time so things feel less intimidating. Each panelist brings a different perspective and that can be an advantage.

Panel interviews can be daunting, but I've learned to approach them as opportunities to showcase my skills and personality from different angles. Beyond preparing answers, I focus on building rapport with each panelist, acknowledging their questions individually while maintaining a cohesive narrative. Additionally, I make sure to research each interviewer beforehand, understanding their roles and backgrounds to tailor my responses effectively. Furthermore, I remind myself to stay calm and confident, understanding that panel interviews are a chance to shine in a collaborative setting rather than an interrogation.
