What do you do if you're asked "Why do you want to work for this company?

Tailor your response to align with the company's values, mission, and culture. Identify specific aspects of the company that resonate with you personally and professionally, such as its commitment to innovation, diversity and inclusion efforts, corporate social responsibility initiatives, or employee development programs.

This is right! There are a lot of things to look out for in any company above the "salary". What does the company value? What about their culture? Does it match with mine? How is the company positioned with their competitors? What edge will I have if I join this company? What about your mental state? I know one may not know everything, but it is very important to conduct a thorough research

The environment should satisfy the following three intrinsic conditions- 1. A place where a person's potential can be realised 2. Alignment of higher personal values with that of the firm's 3. The work you do puts you in the state of flow which is fun and you experience the spirit of play.

During an interview, if you are asked why you want to work for a company, it’s best to be honest as honesty will go a long way, especially if you’ve done your homework about the company. Honestly sharing parallels that exist between your professional interests and vision and those of the company, will show common alignment. Sharing what you know about the company’s history and it’s positive contribution, will support the goal of highlighting company elements that resonate with you. Your knowledge of and belief in the company will also make it easier to specify why you are qualified and ready to be part of the organization.

Be genuine. Research the company and align your goals to the opportunities in which you seek. With your experience and the comapnies goals, do you see yourself being an asset in the process and overall success within the company. There is no simple answer that could be given that would align your desires and business intent to any position. If you see a potential and a future within this company you won't get by with any generic answers during an interview.

The best answers I've heard from candidates is when they share a genuine reason that connects the candidate specifically to the role (backed by their research into the role/company and by their experience in the process). It's not a generic answer that could be applied to any company or to a direct competitor. It's specific to the role and company.

With an in-depth knowledge of the company from my prior research as well as from the interview on their hot buttons, my reason for wanting to join them is “change”. Not just for me but also for them. I would want to add value by helping them with business changes. That will be my value proposition why i want to join them.

Demonstrate your knowledge about the company, "Based on what I've seen and heard about your company, I believe what I bring to the table can help in these ways," and indicate how your skills will advance the organization's goals. As well, speak to how your professional goals align with those of the organization and can prove to be mutually beneficial. You have to prove a "win win" through an honest and thoughtful response to be accepted.
