What do you do if your web design skills need improvement?

Know what you’re good at and what you’re not. Personally I’ve found that narrowing my strengths and delving deeper into them helped me learn more on what I’m good at and perfect it and earn my professional status, rather than be a jack of all trades. My skill set flow: WordPress > Elementor Pro > Crocoblock > Rest APIs

If web design abilities require improvement: - Assess Weaknesses: Determine which areas require improvement, such as layout design, typography, or color theory. - Study Design Principles: You can learn design fundamentals through online classes, books, or tutorials. - Practice Design Projects: To apply taught principles, create mockups, or remodel existing websites. - Get Feedback: Seek feedback from peers or design groups to improve your skills. - Keep Up to Date: To consistently improve and stay current on design trends and tools.

Evaluate your most recent web design projects critically in order to pinpoint areas that require improvement. Assess your knowledge of essential concepts such as CSS and responsive design methods. Acknowledging your weaknesses enables you to develop a strategy to improve your abilities and maintain your competitiveness in the market. You can take focused steps for professional growth if you are aware of your areas for improvement.

I’ve always personally found that continuously learning and perfecting your craft is key to web design. You can NEVER learn enough. Finish your Masters and still in 5-10 years half of it and new techniques and technologies evolve by 5-10 years potentially holding you back.

Practice practice practice! You can never get enough of practice. I’ve found that for me i work best when I create new designs for myself and elevate my portfolio further in niches I don’t have many clients so as to disperse and elevate my portfolio.

Constructive feedback can help you grow and improve your skills. - Seek feedback by posting your work on Linkedin. - Create a small insider group of designers where you all can share your works, help each other and grow together.

Once you've become an expert in using a tool, move on to a new one and learn it to upskill yourself and offer more services. Example - Building website with no-code tools like Framer and Webfow, 3D Design with Spline etc.
