Recently, amidst a surge in customer inquiries, I faced time constraints and competing priorities. I empowered my team by delegating tasks according to their strengths. By entrusting them with responsibilities, we efficiently managed the workload while fostering team development. This approach not only alleviated my stress but also enhanced overall productivity and morale. Embracing delegation is key to overcoming overwhelm in late career.

My approach is to identify the root cause. The first possibility is wrong prioritization. If everything is a priority it may be that we are not good at assessing actual priorities. IF that is the case a new prioritization exercise may solve the problem. Second possibility is lack of delegation and the article is good covering it. Third possibility is insufficient resources and in that case the solution is to identify ways to incorporate additional resources to accomplish with all the priorities.

I would consider delegating tasks, prioritizing responsibilities, and possibly seeking support from the team. Maintaining a healthy work life balance is very important to me.

No single tool or technique has ever worked for me. I am a chronic procrastinator, which I once saw as a liability - until I realized that it was the urgency of the last minute, and commitment to others to get things done, that created motivation. This is a pretty easy system to hijack, once you see it. Knowing I can cook up motivation with these two things, I know to set earlier deadlines and make direct commitments to others based on them. Everything else falls into place from there. Not everyone is motivated by those things, but if you spend some time understanding your own core motivations (rewards, recognition, to-do lists), it becomes much easier to apply the techniques you see here.

En mi experiencia agregaría 3 puntos adicionales: 1. Primero tienes que conocer a cada integrante de tu equipo y sus capacidades para según eso delegar y priorizar las tareas. 2. Potenciar sus puntos débiles para que se pueda retar a que tomen nuevas tareas y como líder puedas delegar pero ense?ando de esta forma tendrás un equipo más sólido y las prioridades serán más fáciles de delegar. 3. Medir al equipo luego de las asignaciones y luego buscar toma de decisiones óptimas, ayudaría también poder siempre retar al equipo a tomar cosas innovadoras dentro de sus prioridades.

In my experience, it will all depend on a few variables as "late career" means different things in different scenarios. Basically you could be either finishing your term as a Corporate Executive and would like to empower a younger generation of executives to take over, or you could be starting a new business with a specific purpose that aligns with the legacy you would like to leave. In the first scenario, very likely I would identify what it is that I still cannot delegate in my executive team and why, in order to close those gaps by providing the upskilling they need to take over. In the second scenario, I would need to forecast the investment on the intelectual resources needed to grow the company in an orderly manner.
