1 Assess Situation

When contractors are new to the team, I like to start them out with meet-and-greets with the other team members. Then I encourage them to reach out to their team mates for clarifications when needed, which is often easier for them. Sometimes we're moving fast and they may not be able to keep the pace. So I ask them (and myself) if they have all the knowledge or resources they need, or if they already know where to get them. I like to start contractors with smaller tasks on short deadlines, to see how they address these before moving on to tasks that require greater autonomy, so I will also assess whether their initial tasks were too big for their knowledge or skill sets.

és totalmente normal ajustar estratégia al medio de un a?o, proyecto o tarea. Cuando tiene un equipo en formación, las márgenes de errores son más grandes aún. El papel del liderazgo en este ecosistema es esencial. Cuando una parte del equipo no cumple a las expectativas o está más lento de que tú imaginava , una de las buenas prácticas que testé es un lineamento muy transparente con la persona, muchas veces va recibir la respuesta en esta charla, otra “tip” es poner a alguien para acompa?ar la con más cercanía y por último (si ya hiciste tu rol de líder por completo) entender si no seria el momento de tomar una decisión más fuerte y cambiar la persona, porque puede comprometer la entrega de un proyecto importante.
