The first act should be to try and understand the reasons for the team members not being able to complete the tasks effectively it could be due to the following three main reasons : 1.) Lack of Skill - Offer Trainings/Courses to upskill the team. 2.) Lack of Motivation - Understand what motivates the team and align their personal goals with the project goals. 3.) Lack of Communication - Effectively communicate and explain the tasks and required effort. Do not micromanage but make clear communications and set clear expectations.

There are many factors that could contribute to task not being completed effectively. Possible cause 1: Over optimistic schedule. Solution: This can be handled by ensuring that schedules are realistic and inputs from disciplines are taken to create a realistic schedule from the outset of the project. Possible cause 2: Lack of adequate expertise. Solution: Get the team trained in relevant areas to deliver task efficiently. Possible cause 3: Lack of motivation within the team. Solution: Establish a system to incentivize outstanding performance. Possible cause 4: Lack of team effort Solution: Set up regular team bonding/building activities within the team. Also, great leadership can help improve the delivery of a team.

Realistic expectations should be set for steam members based on their capacities and task at hand. A good team lead must have identified areas of strength of all his or her team members and this could prove handy in delegating them to task and responsibilities. Each team members must be made responsible and given a sense of belongingness in the team. This will help them to become accountable, in many instances, delegation of duties makes some employees feel fulfilled and important to the team thus enhancing their performance towards meeting expectations.
