What do you do if your IT system's user experience needs improvement?

To improve the user experience (UX) of your IT system, begin by assessing its current state. Utilize diverse methods like surveys, interviews, and analytics to gather feedback from users. Evaluate design, functionality, performance, accessibility, and security aspects to pinpoint strengths, weaknesses, and user needs. This comprehensive understanding serves as a foundation for targeted enhancements, ensuring alignment with user expectations and improving overall UX satisfaction.

After assessing the current state of your IT system's UX, the next crucial step is to define clear and measurable goals and metrics for improvement. Utilize the feedback and data gathered to establish objectives aligned with user expectations and business needs. There are so many avenues to address UX issues today - just about every cloud service provider has a compelling ux SDLC - that can be used to modernize your UX. I like to start by first defining the enterprise strategy - so that I can narrow down the tools and methods to use in modernizing / addressing UX concerns. I can then work to prioritize my UX concerns and work through them leveraging my enterprise strategy to determine which options make the most sense.

Focus on cause of recurring issues and frequently highlighted issues by users as part of your feedback survey-first fix those. Pareto rule can help- 80% of issues come from 20% of the causes. If there isn't a feedback survey that's essential to find where the majority of the issue and start from there. Arrange for trainings so users are educated properly, use FAQs or chat bots to answer FAQs. Communicate effectively to ensure when issues are fixed the users are aware, this helps in users gaining trust.
