Freelancing is a good way to secure a job, and up skilling but getting into the freelancing space. This is a way forward but securing a freelancing job is a bit hard. If there are many freelancing opportunity it will be a grate way upward.

A lot of the roles I've had built up on a tiny specific skill I've done from a previous job. I became a release engineer through my Linux exposure and eventually a cloud engineer from AWS exposure.
