I would say this is low on my list. Being assertive doesn’t resonate with me. I think expressing the importance and backing it up with regulatory context or the need for social license is key but I wouldn’t consider this assertiveness. Then reflect on how these affect your position. Don’t be defensive. If you are uncertain, be curious about your uncertainty and don’t feel as if you need to respond immediately. Embrace and admit the uncertainty. Then I would say that you need to use what you’ve learned to build relationships built on trust. You need to find ways to interact with people, follow through, and succeed.
