Understanding why things don’t work is trickier that you might think as for this you will need good metrics. Plan for metrics well ahead, before problems appear, and maintain them as you go. If problems appear and it is still unclear why, consider prioritising work to improve metrics. Engage your engineering team, ask questions and hear your opinion of where they think the robot falls short. Identifying how to get out of a tricky situation requires time, so prepare for that day in advance

If you designed the system and processes in a way that you can iterate quickly, then is time to do so. If, as it is likely, you can’t iterate quickly then strategically think where the biggest pains lie. Investigate whether the motion of the robot is optimal and follows the latest in state of the art as often that is a source of pain. If you rely on ML, ask yourself the question if you are collecting the right data and you have the right processes to use it. Regardless of where the pain lies, consider speeding up your developers time in the process, you want to fail fast to discover where the problems are and you likely won’t be able to do it from day 1, so promote such mindset shifting

Well , when your project results are not the ones you were expecting for that moment , don’t be afraid re access and review method , design, programming and sequencing of steps , it is all part of growing and learning and don’t be afraid to accept the challenge.
