People are still sadly under the impression that when a resume is submitted online, the actual document itself is printed and read word-for-word. It's not. In many cases the actual resume will never even be seen. The data is extracted off the resume into the ATS profile. At this point, you are given an ATS score. Following this, in many cases, the ATS will decide who is getting interviewed and even send out the interview invite, all without a human ever seeing a "resume". I will take a risk and go against the grain here by saying modern resumes rarely need a storytelling makeover to stand out, what will make them "stand out" is having the resume fully ATS compliant and optimized for a high ATS score before submitting it.
