As a remote worker, it is critical to have a secure and stable connection and I believe nationally, an expectation that falls on the remote worker for obvious reasons. Being able to do your job is heavily dependent on being able to connect to the necessary resources, and it is critical to own that piece as once permissions are granted, the organization relies on the remote worker being able to manage their workload.

There’s a balance to strike with automation. Efficiency and productivity are huge factors to being a great database manager but so is accuracy and quality of work. Being able to manage information flow and storage includes ensuring database integrity. Definitely automate what you can that is easy to audit but be aware of what processes that can be automated, could easily corrupt data, are hard to audit, and could cause issues for the whole if not tracked.

In technology as a whole it pays to stay up-to-date on current systems and methodologies. Using DBMS is no different. One should always be expanding there knowledge. One aspect that of sql scripting is using derived tables or Common Table Expressions to help speed up complex queries.

Technology is always evolving and those who to keep up with it very quickly become the ones who get outpaced by others in their field. To ensure databases are kept running to maximum effect, it’s critical to ensure any new technology or changes are kept in mind and up to date, as lack of it isn’t just an issue of data integrity but also data security.
