For Emerging Manager Monthly’s second annual feature story highlighting the #Hispanic investment community, we discussed Hispanic investors that are continuing to work to stand out in an institutional market that has seen private markets fundraising slow while allocators continue to cater to existing relation-ships with established funds. FIN Searches data discovered that less than 1% of institutional capital allocated to all managers, whether diverse-owned or not, was made to Hispanic-owned firms since the start of 2024, revealing that industry assets are under allocated to Hispanic-owned firms. However, #privateequity ac-counted for the most mandates among the Hispanic cohort, which led us to speak with the talented Hispanic private equity space - Alejandro Guerrero of Act One Ventures; Andy Unanue of AUA Private Equity Partners; Gerson R. Guzman of Ceiba Capital Partners; José E. Feliciano of Clearlake Capital Group; Kerstin Dittmar and Danielle N. Beyer of L2 Point; as well as allocators and industry organizations including Marisol Reyes of New America Alliance; Jose Fernandez of StepStone Group and Jose Gonzalez of Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois. I enjoyed our conversations and the value that your amazing insights can provide to the industry at large, amigos. I hope this story encourages folks to look more closely at the great things that #Latinos in the space are doing to gain #equity and access to capital! Published right in the middle of #HispanicHeritageMonth, the story further highlights how this month provides an opportunity for the investment industry to honor Latino culture and give back, however we should remember to celebrate and honor these traditions year round. I normally don’t use LinkedIn for personal reasons, but I’m excited to share that my three-year-old son (pictured here), who is half Puerto Rican from his mama, is already being taught the beautiful Spanish language in preschool! I recall not being exposed to Spanish in school until the eighth grade, so to me, this is one example of a tremendous step forward. Maybe one day my son will be a part of the investment community, but for now, I am very proud of efforts similar to this in education, mentoring and networking, like the ones that the Hispanic industry is additionally working hard to improve for the next generation of investors, as highlighted in this piece.
