Why not ask for both?

These are skills that can be learnt though so seeking guidance and training can help.

In today's world, change is the only thing that's constant; If one would like to stay in a comfort zone, one can. But expecting a promotion to advance and unwilling to give what it takes there may only set yourself to failure. And the higher you go, more the risk and grit one requires. It's about one's ability to have a growth mindset that it takes to grow spiral upwards in their chosen field of career. It's that ability to take risks, show agility, willingness to push beyond given boundaries, network with people, learn and relearn and deal with situations with good judgement and empathy allows one to progress and succeed. Embrace the change and see the unlimited possibilities to do good.

Ability to adapt to change is a skill everyone should possess. While adapting to the presented change, it is your ability to navigate quickly easily and effectively. In addition to the above. It’s also important to do a stocktake of your emotions, strengths and ability to push yourself out of your comfort zone. That combined with the above would help you target what it will need for you to feel secure , confident and connected as you navigate change. Additionally never lose sight of why the change was initiated and the intended outcome from the organisation’s perspective. Ensure there are metrics in place to measure the success of the introduced / presented change! Staying connected to people and listening to them helps massively!

Manage change to advance? Was it different before? In Spanish we say worlds VICA, volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous and that is what are also called liquid worlds. In any of its names, the leader must know how to adapt to change. It is usual for us to say that the only thing that does not change over time is change itself. It is our reality, we have to manage that and make it part of our understanding of reality. A year ago, we barely knew about artificial intelligence and today, its use is everyday.
