What do you do if your project coordination is hindered by a lack of networking?

Expanding the Braintrust: Explain that by socializing the project, you create a "brainstorming beyond the team" environment. This can unearth valuable insights and expertise from unexpected corners of the organization. Synergy through Socialization: Sharing the project's goals and progress, you foster a sense of synergy. People who might not have been initially involved can see how their skills or knowledge can contribute. Finding Hidden Gems: Socializing the project uncovers "hidden gems" within the organization. These are individuals with the perfect skills or experience to support the project. Describe how by sparking interest, you can create a natural "advisory board" of subject matter experts who can provide valuable guidance.

It's never too late to start networking. But if you are genuinely in the middle of something and need to leverage a network, be smart about leveraging someone who you think might have a good network. We all know someone who is a great networker - reach out to them! Use your one connection to leverage the 20 that you need right now but are only just working to build. In the meantime, also utilise online resources - social media platforms, community forums, etc. to get opinions of like-minded people and experts.

In every field there are a host of non-profit and even for-profit organizations to develop your expertise and contacts in your field. Leveraging those is the fastest way to network and meet the RIGHT people from whom you can learn and save a lot of time. Given I work in the Business to Government space, I work with a tremendous number of leaders leaving government who almost ALWAYS lament not knowing more about the private sector, how things work, and what challenges industry has working with/for government. Luckily in our space there are a lot of opportunities to learn substance and meet new people who can help you innovate and achieve your goals faster.

Engage in discussions, ask for advice, and build relationships virtually. To streamline comms, leverage the use of available authorised technology. It is basically how to build a house without any tools as in we are stuck not having enough contacts or connections to move things forward smoothly. :P of course by adapting strategically and embracing technology, we can overcome the challenge of limited networking and still drive the project towards success.
