Executive Directors working closely with their boards to prioritize personal development, including people skills, fosters a culture of learning within nonprofit entities. The best organizations understand that the easiest expense to eliminate is one that is not easily seen. Personal development is the differentiator for good organizations that want to be great! I have witnessed ED's who provide board development, which then provides a new lens on development objectives. These ED's write their interpersonal development into the next budget.
