What do you do if your passion for writing is not coming across in an interview?

There will always be day(s) when even doing things you're really pssionate about isn't enought to lift the spirit. Just take the L and move on. For future interview reference however, keep a reminder that when writing and interview is your main bread and butter you need to give them the respect they deserve. Build a system where with or without passion, you will FUNCTION thoroughly. That nobody will not know of your dwindling enthusiasm towards a certain interview and instead they see you as capable and committed interviewer. To do so: do the research beforehand, contact interviewee when possible, jot down question points and all this should establish a pathway towards a decent interview regardless of the state of your personal sentiment.

Before the interview, take some time to reflect on what aspects of writing truly excite you. Consider your past experiences, favorite projects, and moments when you felt most engaged and fulfilled. This self-reflection will help you articulate your passion more effectively during the interview.

People often exclaim that I can write well but not speak well. Although I weave my thoughts in my mind but am not able to speak up at the right occasion. I read voraciously. I write when I am engulfed with ideas. I have now promised myself to never stay quiet when I am overwhelmed with ideas, and overflowing emotions. I read online, brush up my portfolio and resume to come across as well read at the time of interviews.

I'm not sure passions really do come across in interviews. As a hiring manager, I may be able to tell that you care deeply about something, but passions are proven in little moments over long periods of time, when there are obstacles or deadlines and you're still driving as fast as you can to make progress. So, if you can tell a story of a time you've exercised that during the interview, then you can get your passion across. Otherwise, just saying you're really interested in something doesn't do much.

Share personal anecdotes or experiences that highlight your emotional connection to writing. Whether it's a childhood memory of falling in love with storytelling or a recent accomplishment that ignited your passion, humanizing your narrative can make your passion more relatable and compelling. Demonstrate your eagerness to learn, grow, and explore new facets of writing by asking thoughtful questions about the company, role, or industry during the interview. Expressing genuine curiosity and interest can signal to employers that you're committed to continuous improvement and development as a writer.

TO show our passion and success we need to say certain things that can get us the required appreciation. In a group conversation / interview you can not always drive it in a direction you want. But, what you can do is, try to insert, your stories, examples into the ongoing conversation wherever you find even a small connecting link within the conversation. Be patient, be ready, you will defiantly find a way.
