I have seen the importance of this. We must learn the environment and people first. I remember looking at changing how I do meetings which is an online way. This never came off because people wanted face to face meetings.

Before enacting any changes, it’s crucial to grasp the company’s culture, as it serves as the fertile ground where ideas either thrive or perish. Understanding this ensures that the cultural landscape is conducive to embracing new initiatives, thus enhancing the likelihood of successful implementation.

Change isn’t just about new ideas; it’s about readiness. You’re hitting a wall because the foundation—the culture—isn’t aligned. It’s like planting seeds in concrete. So, how do you crack that surface? Start by understanding the ‘why’ behind the resistance. What fears, habits, or beliefs are holding your team back? Cultivate a culture of trust and transparency. Show them the value of change, make them part of the journey, not just spectators. Now on this matter right here , culture eats strategy for breakfast. But … are you ready to get your hands dirty?

When communicating your vision, do not get led astray by the usual PR and marketing talk. Even a vision needs to be specific. While it should be grounded in values as to emotionally resonate with your staff and customers it should also include elements that can be assessed. Facts persuade. To persuade people to reach the new status render it not only desirable but conceptually approachable, easy to understand and discuss. Change not understood is change halted, change agreed with is change enacted.

If you don't have an exit strategy, then you aren't serious about evaluating the impact of the change. Is it really a pilot? Or is it just the first implementation of a company-wide rollout which has already been decided. We must be willing to set aside the arrogance of our own ideas and recognize that we could be wrong. Frequently 'move fast and break things' just leaves things broken and irreparable. Be as willing to declare failure as you are to proclaim success.

I am firm believer that effective Innovation is always stemmed out of needs. Applies for both path breaking kinds and for small incremental ones. Create a shared purpose by clearly defining if this need is addressed what will be achieved and what will be lost (both at org level & personally) if the need is left unattended. 3. depends on your personal priorities. If the company is paying a decent salary and you are not about to get fired, you may take the view that plodding long, keeping things stable and taking care of your/your family's financial needs is more important than an aspirational need to drive innovation.
