If my team is overloaded, the 1st place I look for improvements is in processes. If the processes and/or tools need updated we begin with that. If the processes/tools are already streamlined, next I look to team performance. Are there any training opportunities that could enhance performance? Are there any mentoring opportunities? If team performance is as expected, next I examine workload/staffing balance. Is the increased workload temporary or is the workload scaling up. If the workload is trending up for the long term, it may be time to discuss adding new staff to the team as business requirements demand.
