This one is tricky. Management sets out the goals, which in the case of the industry I am in, should be 95% plus within TAT. Given significant human intervention, and in our case, outsourcing, this is challenging without STP. Human error, despite maker chekcer approver will happen. While goals cannot change materially, processes can be tweaked or automated in some cases. Key is to have a process where errors are identified within a reasonable time frame.

Where an operational strategy requires significant human action, the team is more than critical. The only way forward is regular communication, with no idea being too small. Often, the junior executive, sitting in the hot seat will bring in the best idea from a practical perspective.

This is what we have done, and there are some positive results. Small in house automation has played a role, our outsourcing partner has added extra time. WIth collaboration, we have managed 98% within TAT for one of our processes, and c. 90% in the other.
