Obtaining new skills and training is an important element to keeping abreast of the latest methods- however knowledge must be applied to pertinent situations. Our skillset must match our roles and vice-versa. Of course we all adjust and adapt, however we want to avoid the adage of trying to force a square peg in a round hole. Although many can continue to perform adequately, both the person and the position suffer from not getting the most from the skills and passion of the staff or educator. As someone that also employs workers, I always recommend that learning how to utilize your skills and interests within your chosen industry is just as important as choosing to pursue a job.

Showcase other well-known skills in the intermediary Some employers may not be able to see the value of your newly acquired skills because it has not been used in the organisation. You may want to tone down on the newly acquired skill to get the job and show your potential employers the benefit of your newly acquired skill on the job. As a bonus, the newly acquired skill can give you rapid promotion when its benefit is made clear for all to see in the organisation.
