What do you do if your mentee in Machine Learning needs guidance and support?

In my experience as a Teacher and Researcher one of the key objective to foster an healthy and continuously learning environment that supports the autonomy of young mentees is to better handle the concept of failure. Failure means assuming risks, overcoming your confort zone and pushing your limits a little higher. It is important to let everyone know this is a good thing! However, it may still impact your self-esteem which in turns is playing a crucial role in learning and positively overcoming these failures. It is then important to build processes that support the consolidation of self-esteem: for example working incrementally on simpler tasks or in collaboration with more positive and skilled team members.
