This hits home. I've made many mistakes and learned painful and compelling lessons. It taught me a lot about myself and who I wanted to be as a leader. If my executive decisions lead to mistakes or failures, I understand that it can impact my team. I prioritize open communication, ensuring they understand what happened and how we plan to address it. I listen to their perspectives and concerns, offering support and reassurance. Together, we learn from the experience, strengthening our teamwork and resilience. I foster an environment where we embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, building trust and cohesion within the team.

Assessing impact, In my opinion, is better done collecting others perspectives to have a broader view of the situation (collective intelligence) as it is quite often not cristal clear what problems aries from that particular situation.

In such a situation, it is important to realize and accept that the strategy is not working as expected. In such situation, it is extremely critical to do a detailed analysis and try identifying the reasons for failures. Evaluate the alternative options and shortlist the actions that need to be taken to revise or adjust the strategy to produce desired results. I have experienced that in such situation, obtaining view of other stakeholders including your team may be very helpful. Sometimes while analysing things you would consistently look things from the same filter, hence a different perspective could be very helpful.

Again, with collective intelligence, the solution will be easier to find and stronger when implemented. The tricky part will be to balance out the leader's authority with the genuine proposals that the team brings to the table, to have everyone acknowlege and also have a unified strategy.
