In my experience, focusing on one channel is best. By choosing to connect with your learner through multiple channels, you're training them to NOT be responsive to you main channel of communication. With all of the communication apps out there, it's important to stick to a main channel to set expectations and train the desired behaviour.

One of the challenges of e-learning is creating a sense of connection and presence with your learners. To overcome this, you need to be personal and human in your e-learning communication. Use a friendly and conversational tone, address your learners by name, share your stories and experiences, and show your personality and emotions. In my experience I would use the technology to “Flip” the students videos and get them to “Flip” back to me a video. It’s new engaging technology and they enjoy dropping me a video with their understanding. Or moreover what they don’t understand.
