For instance, the rise of AI and chatbots has changed the customer service landscape, requiring professionals to adapt and learn new skills. Emotional intelligence and empathy are also increasingly valued, as machines can't replicate them. Thus, while assessing skills, consider both technical and soft skills.

Lastly, learning from feedback, both positive and negative, is a powerful way to improve.

There’s always room for improvement. Reading blogs and articles on customer service, along with learning from seasoned professionals, has significantly enhanced my customer service skills. When I began this journey, I identified the top customer care agent in my organization and strategically placed my desk next to his to observe what he did differently. From him, I gained invaluable skills that have elevated my performance.

One course that truly stood out emphasized the importance of tonal variation when interacting with customers. Likewise, the customer must exercise patience during the interaction to receive the best possible service.
