I have experienced the Oversell and Underperform in every company I have ever worked in. Salespeople under pressure to sell with personal targets to reach and little if any experience either technical or understanding of delivering a project. On many occasions I have advised an achievable timeframe for a project only to be over ruled. Then spend a ridiculous amount of time and effort trying to make it happen. Always with compromise and always with lots of apologies to the customer and the project finishing around the timeframe I originally proposed. Project managers are either brilliant 5% or just bullying headless chickens 95%. Senior Managers just throwing blame downwards. A Shitstorm to work with. Employ decent Technical Sales staff.
