If it’s determined that someone is undermining your authority (& it’s not a misunderstanding) this should be addressed immediately. Before you meet with the person, make sure you have your facts ready and a list of the issues to make sure you cover all critical points. Once you have these, schedule a meeting with the other party. As frustrating as it may be, keep the conversation professional and calm. If the other party has something to say, calmly listen, but also take notes in case you need to review later on. Also make sure to cover all points to ensure others don’t come back with “I wasn’t aware of that”. Hopefully, this discussion can resolve the issue before having to be escalated to Upper Mgmt. or HR.
