Si finalmente no se consigue el acuerdo es mejor no acalorarse. Hay que pensar siempre con enfoque constructivo. Si no es el momento, no es el momento .. y quizás será una buena opción aplazar la conversación

One thing that I have found to be super helpful in such situations is to show compassion as defined by 'Return On Character' - ie not only putting yourself in someone else's shoes put being compelled to take action. In this case to really understand the perspective and diversity of opinions of your colleague and acknowledge how their differing opinions may seem very right and real to them due to their frame of reference and experiences. Encouraging further dialogue and understanding of your own frame of reference is also important. This is what compassionate conflict is all about. It is a way of acknowledging and validating you as a person, your experiences, your opinions and your expertise, which may be very very different from mine.

Diversity of thought is a team strength and when it's respected, can produce good, solid decisions. No opinion is invalid and all should be genuinely welcomed and fully heard. The final outcome will be accepted by everyone if they feel that their views were fairly considered in the decision making process.

If a contentious issue isn't crucial to the discussion's objectives, it's often more productive to quickly steer away from it. This can save time and energy for more important matters, preventing unnecessary conflicts that don't contribute to the goals at hand.
