What do you do if your career takes a hit?

I will share my own career story. I did my internship in a very wonderful FMCG which paid Interns good retainers for a period of six months. After the 6 months, the company was downsizing and so after internship there were no retention opportunities. I opted to work as a steward in an organization that gave me that option. I worked there for a period of six months as a cleaner, messenger and tea girl. I networked with the staff there and one managed to share an open role with me in an organization where I secured an Administrative role. Its good to be positive and start with what you have instead of complaining about lack of opportunities.
