I love to use something that I learned during R&D in the Biopharma industry. use the natural human tendency of solving things! (Biodesign). A problem is not your driver ! an unmet need is! A fix does solves a problem but a solution fixes your unmet need (and in many cases many other problems you did not anticipate!) E.g. A Child is hungry (Problem), however the unmet need is Parents need work to provide. The fix would be to give the child food, the solution though is to enable the Parents to work and thus they can not only feed the child but take care of other things like Health, Education etc...so by solving the unmet need I resolved not only the 'hungry' problem but many other problems as well Thus in seeking clarity seek the unmet need!
