Let your manager's manager know that you intend to speak with your direct manager regarding the adversity. This may be a slippery slope though depending on the relationship the hierarchy has with each other so gauge the conversation and tread appropriately. Ask your manager to set aside time in the next day or two to discuss an important matter. Don't go deep during the meeting setup. This will give you time to prepare your thoughts, and them time to prepare for you, rather than be caught off guard by asking them in the moment for 15 minutes, now.

Give examples and REMAIN OBJECTIVE in your comments. If your manager was a truly empathetic leader, you probably wouldn't be having this issue in the first place. Determine how to better handle situations like the ones you give examples for.
